A music lover and a talented guitarist, David also harbors a strong affinity for accounting. Always sharply dressed, this pleasure-seeker is also known for his sharp sense of humour and talents in the kitchen. Incidentally, he would have also liked to have been a chef and run his own restaurant. He expects to obtain a bachelor’s degree in accounting from ESG-UQAM by December 2019. If the sound of
an out of tune guitar really makes him cringe, what really excites him is climbing. And yet he’s afraid of heights!

"During my summer internship with PSB Boisjoli, I received excellent mentoring, from both partners and colleagues.

I had the chance to work on company files in various sectors that I’m passionate about. I also found it to be a warm and welcoming working environment that encourages taking initiative and being proactive. I especially liked the performance coach concept; I learned a lot from them, especially when it comes to being professional and how the firm operates. My favourite activity was undoubtedly shadowing."

Another career I would have liked to practice
I would have liked to be a chef and own my own restaurant.
What makes you cringe
An out of tune guitar.
What did you like best about your internship
Meeting new people in each division who have different experiences and knowledge.
I can’t stand
Heights, but I love climbing…
Maxime Leblanc
HEC Montréal
Maxime really likes psychology (so much so that he’s got the symbol for it tattooed on his wrist), but his interest in numbers convinced him that a career as an accountant was the right one for him! Friendly, always smiling and an excellent team player, this straightforward and easy-going guy also likes to solve complex problems. He expects to obtain his bachelor’s degree in accounting from HEC
Montréal by fall 2020. He likes things to be constantly evolving and improving in order to adapt to new situations and show how versatile he is. And what about technology? He loves it. One could even say he is a bit of a geek. His passion? Numbers, numbers and more numbers.

"I would sum up my experience as a summer intern at PSB Boisjoli in three words: support, colleagues and opportunities.

We received continued support from the professionals at PSB Boisjoli, who have a real interest in our success. The main reason I accepted the offer to work there as a summer intern was because of its employees. I immediately felt it was the perfect match. It has given me a much clearer idea of the career opportunities that are open to me. I really liked exploring the company’s different divisions to find out what people’s everyday jobs entail. I even had the opportunity to follow a Canadian tax partner as part of my shadowing day!"

A word to describe PSBB:
Opportunity
What struck you most about PSBB
The way people work together. They show us the work step-by-step and most importantly why we are doing it. We aren’t left to our own devices!
One thing you’ll remember
The friendships made with the other summer interns. Working alongside them almost every day for eleven weeks is something you can’t forget!
Another career I would have liked to practice
I would have liked to have been a psychiatrist if I had to start over again at Cegep, which means going through natural sciences route. I’ve always found the idea of trying to demystify and understand the human brain to be fascinating. But, at the end of the day, I am still more comfortable with numbers!
Deborah Leibu
ESG UQÀM
Being very ambitious, Deborah initially intended to study in the health field. But fate, as is so often the case, led her into accounting. She was then free to pursue her keen interest in numbers. So much so, that this committed woman now expects to obtain her bachelor’s degree in accounting from ESG-UQAM in December 2019, to then start her DESS. As the eldest of three sisters, Deborah has a strong
maternal side. She is very sporty and loves basketball. It’s a good thing, though because she loves Nutella just as much!

"My time at PSB Boisjoli was an unforgettable experience.

I was lucky enough to be assigned to a team that took an active part in helping us succeed in both our professional and personal development. I had the opportunity to learn from and work with professionals who guided me along the way. The rotational program and activities, which were well organised, allowed me to meet members of diverse teams in a professional and relaxed atmosphere. There is a unique and special team spirit at PSB Boisjoli. I genuinely loved my experience this summer and I highly recommend PSB Boisjoli!"

What did you like best about your internship
I really liked putting the theory I learned in school into practice, the rotational program, and shadowing a partner.
One thing you’ll remember
I’ll remember my efforts to try and sell tickets to throw pies at the partners, as part of a fundraising campaign.
A word to describe PSBB
There are so many things I could say, but in short I would say that PSB Boisjoli is a great firm!
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Uhh, is that Nutella I see over there…?
Naomi Rotaple
HEC Montréal
Although at first Naomi might seem shy and quiet, it doesn’t mean she isn’t an excellent team player who is fully committed to the projects she is involved in. She wondered for some time about which career to go into, but it was her passion for mathematics that naturally led her into accounting. A student at HEC Montréal, Naomi expects to obtain her bachelor’s degree in accounting by December
2019. Others describe her as both thorough and versatile. Although she doesn’t like spiders, fish or olives, she does have a love for… hand sanitizers!

"My experience as a summer intern at PSB Boisjoli was very rewarding on various levels.

Firstly, because of the weekly rotation, I had the opportunity to learn about the firm’s different divisions. I loved the activities they put on especially for interns, which was a fun way for me to develop the ability to be a team player. I felt supported and assisted throughout my first experience with a client. All the employees were welcoming, available and helpful. Overall, I learned a great deal and loved this internship experience, which went above and beyond my expectations."

What you liked best about your internship
Being able to learn so much in such a short amount of time.
I can’t stand
spiders,
fish
and olives.
An item that most reflects me
Purell
What is the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?
Call my mother and scream
Salima Rakkay
Concordia University
Before entering the field of accounting, Salima studied psychology for a few years. A big-hearted and sociable person, she has a passion for travel, enjoying good food with friends… and forensic accounting. Her aptitude for mathematics and talent for investigation made this a natural field for her, which she has really enjoyed learning about with great enthusiasm. Having a work/life balance is a
priority for her, as is travelling the world and continuing to make those dear to her happy. She expects to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Concordia University by May 2020. What’s her next travel destination? Asia, where there are without a doubt incredible new adventures awaiting her!

"My internship at PSB Boisjoli was incredibly rewarding.

When I started, I didn’t have any practical experience in accounting, and ten weeks later, that has all changed. The knowledge I acquired went beyond my expectations and has given me confidence in my abilities. Going into work every day was always a pleasure. My internship gave me the chance to gain some initial experience of accounting, to get a taste of what the profession is like and gradually get used to it. My colleagues, who were always on hand to help me and answer my questions, helped to make my summer internship a wonderful experience."

What makes you cringe
The sound of a fork on an empty plate.
One thing you’ll remember
My very first experience with Caseware and how I didn’t understand a thing!
A word to describe PSBB
The best!
What makes you laugh instantly
Remembering my Facebook statuses from when I was a teenager.

I have had the distinct pleasure of spending my entire professional accounting career at PSB Boisjoli, working my way from Junior Accountant to Managing Partner. PSB Boisjoli is a motivating environment that provides countless opportunities for professional development and career growth. It’s a rewarding and dynamic environment where there are daily challenges and where, every day, I am truly happy to come to work.

I very much enjoyed my two-month internship at PSB Boisjoli. I was given access to all the resources I needed in order to complete the work assigned to me, while learning on the go. I was well supported by the staff in the various departments I was assigned to. They always took time to thoroughly explain my assignments to me and answer any questions I had. I became friends with a lot of my co-workers at the firm while playing for the PSB Boisjoli hockey team, as well as attending fun extracurricular activities organized by the firm. Overall, I very much enjoyed my experience and would highly recommend considering PSB Boisjoli to any aspiring CPA in their application process.

It is hard to put my experience at PSB Boisjoli into words because you can’t truly understand it until you experience it! So I will try to describe it to you through my perspective. Imagine the excitement of meeting professionals in the different departments of PSB Boisjoli and of learning and working with them. This allowed me to better integrate with the great team and to get to know a lot of the employees around the firm. This internship was a big step in my life, since it served as a bridge between theory and practice. I am confident that this firm will offer me the opportunity to learn and push me to achieve my potential.
